Frequently Asked Questions

  • You can book a free 15 minute consultation, or an initial therapy appointment with any of our therapists.

  • This is our chance to make sure we are a good fit in working together! First we want to hear more from you about what you’re struggling with and what you are looking for in treatment. Then you’ll hear from us about our background and how we typically work with clients. You then have the chance to ask any questions you may have and from there we can get you scheduled for your first session!

  • The answer to this can vary significantly depending on age and what you’re struggling with. For some, therapy is a space for them to come and talk and unload what they’re dealing with or dive deeper into past trauma and experiences. For others it might be more structured where you are working on specific skills and practicing these between sessions as well. For some, the combination of both of these is what works best. We can set goals and work towards these, while also helping you explore what’s impacting you and dive deeper to find more understanding. The therapy space is for you and we hope you and your therapist will collaborate to determine what will be the most helpful.

If therapy is in person, we have fidgets, coloring, games, and toys we can use throughout session if this helps you feel more comfortable in opening up!

  • We like to start with weekly sessions for the first 6-8 weeks in order to develop the therapeutic relationship and build momentum. With that being said, we know life and work schedules can sometimes make this difficult. We don’t want this to be a barrier for you, so we can work with you on frequency. Please let your provider know during your consultation call if schedule constraints may affect this for you.

Frequency can also ebb and flow over the course of treatment. It can go from weekly to biweekly to monthly, back to weekly. It’s up to you and your therapist to decide what is best.

  • It really varies. I know, not the answer you were looking for. For some 6-8 sessions can be enough to get them to a place of feeling better, for others they enjoy having the space to talk about whatever is going on in their lives and enjoy being in therapy for years! We encourage you to have ongoing conversations with your therapist to determine what will be best for you.
